BABY NEW YEAR DROWNS

he sits, barely sheltered between high cat-o-nine
feeling the cold wicked, whip of winter wind
sneaking between waving wall of tall reeds
tongues of chilled air lick through layers of wool

eyes of glass catch breaking waves
within brackish swirling dark
water from which shivers leap
numbing all thoughts of warm arms

his dog huddles closer
somehow knowing master's pain
as drops of salt disturb the swell
where baby new year drowns

WAVES ON ROXY SHORELINE

Frank was right before and after
he left
"(a legacy) against"
his will, still
ruffling the panties of tipper
gore, hacking music like a media murderess

fingers on the neck and body
climbing to descend
with hammering words and xylophones
a sentient spider disguised as a hand
adhered to the arm of a human body
creating chords that crawl
while weaving well written webs
that stick to catch audience
ears like flies

timeless, worldless, lawless notes
barking pumpkin patch forever
Zapping music as it is
in twisted change
from what it was
from
what it will be

the mainstream sodomized
beneath orchestrated wrath
of the tinsel town terrorist
still smug smiling over
eternally taunting
symphonies of sarcasm

BLUE IN BLACK AND WHITE, for Theresa Combest

gifted with a sadness
that enhances gentle touch

gray inside but still she shines
down on life
with lunar glow

singing the blues in hue vibration
tradition and distance stitching lips

dancer inside follows the call
of her tune
strummed on shadows

words unwritten fill dim corners
holding notes of would-be longing

silent songs that scream on ears
through lyrics
sailing retinal seas

years ago
i think i knew
her when i was dead

Eric Harrison is a chain smoker who likes to fish and who takes his artwork very seriously. He strives to capture his vision by choosing the right media to express each thought or perception. The bulk of his creative work is that of a moody musician, painter, illustrator and poet. Much of what he does represents misanthropic depression and the darker, uglier aspects of the human psyche as well as the delusions that preoccupy his excessively paranoid mind. Some of his music, song lyrics and visual arts appear on CD's produced by his own and several other underground bands. Many of which have been sold and distributed worldwide. His most recent written work appears in The Rockzillaworld Americana Poetry Cosortium and the Third Lung Review Issue #32. When he isn't "being an artist" (and quite often when he is) Eric spends time alone or with his dog and is usually found brooding over paranoid theories or wandering the woods and salt marsh near his home in Lynn, Ma.
